Acts 20
36 And when he had said these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all. 37 Then they all wept [j]freely, and fell on Paul’s neck and kissed him, 38 sorrowing most of all for the words which he spoke, that they would see his face no more. And they accompanied him to the ship.

I get very sad when I meditate on scriptures like this or when I think about traveling even 100 years ago. There was no real way to communicate. Once you left, that was it. There was no telephone, no email, no facebook. There was also no quick travel method like airplane or train. You would never really know what happened to the person after they left and you would have no way to get to them.

This was the atmosphere surrounding Paul as he left. They knew this was it. This feeling is close to the parting we do when a loved one dies. You know you will never see them again.
