1 Corinthians 10:12 So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! 13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Reading this in context, Paul is telling his accusers to be careful you don’t fall. Then after that he gives them hope. God is faithful, he will not let you be tempted past what you can bear. Also he gives you a way out.

If we look at James’ example:

James 1:14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

We are tempted by what we already desire. That is why we have to renew our mind. Think on those things which are good. Do not allow ourselves to meditate on that which is evil and not of God. The Lord will prompt you and warn you. Pay attention.
